Cleaning your Climbing Harness, Quickdraws, Carabiners is Easy as 1, 2, 3

Like I said from my previous post that I would show you how to clean your harness, quickdraws and carabiners.  So let's get started.

CLEANING YOUR HARNESS
Step 1. Rinse with cool water, removing all dirt particles.  I always use a bin or a bucket.

Step 2. If the dirt particles do not separate from the harness, scrub lightly with a mild chemical-free soap, then rinse.

Step 3. Allow to air dry, away from the sun for at least a day.

CLEANING YOUR QUICKDRAWS/CARABINERS...thanks for the info from Resqtek.com. When cleaning your quickdraws, take them apart so everything is separated.

Step 1. Again get a bucket but fill it with warm water mixed with a chemical-free soap, and let the carabiners soak.

Step 2. Scrub the spring, pusher, and gate assembly of the carabiner with an old toothbrush

Step 3. Let them dry, should take about an hour.

Step 4. Spray the mechanisms with WD-40 or a silicone spray lubricant, shaking off any excess Well that's it!  Nothing too tough about it.  Just a little time and dedication.

*After cleaning make sure to inspect your gear for any wear-and-tear.  I would rather retire equipment early rather than too late.

I feel like I don't have to say it, but please take care of your gear, your life depends on it.
