Polarmax Technical Base Layer with Acclimate Dry Technology

Polarmax Base Layor Front (Left) and Back (Right)

Cotton kills right?  NOT ANYMORE!  Really?!  YEP!  Seriously, this medium base layer is made from a cotton mix that I have drenched on powder days and come out of the day dry as a bean.  (A bean.  I just used it.)

First, about me, I personally like to dress in minimal layers.  I generally wear a tight, then a fleece, then jacket on top of that.  Being cold is not something that happens to me very often, except my hands.  Moving on, I have used this little gem while up on the mountain shredding pow.  Now the review...

I have been using the Polarmax Base Layer (aka "next to skin") for about 3 months now.  It has turned into my go-to base layer when conditions get cold while on the mountain.  It is a great layer that feels like a fleece but isn't.

Weather Conditions

Polarmax made this base layer feel like it can be worn in the major cold and not as intense conditions.  I have worn this in storms, on sunny days, and windy days (fun at 12k feet above sea level).  I prefer it in snow storms and windy days.  It makes me feel perfectly warm, but not on sunny days.  I think this is too warm for sunny days and I generally go with a much paper-thin like layer.

Fit

When it comes to the fit of the layer, I like it.  I generally wear a large in shirts and I have been wearing a medium.  It actually fits very well, but for me, (6'0" 170 lbs) I like wearing things little baggier and I think a large would be a perfect fit for my personal preference.  Oh and I would get another color other than white.  I got blood on this one.  Oops!

Style

It has a nice a simple style to it.  I do not feel like a tool wearing this around the lodge or bar after-ski-hours.  Again though, I would go with a different color than white.  It does not look good anymore when you bleed on it or your after-ski tacos get messy.  I like the mid high collar because it keeps your neck warm and the snow out, while, it does not chock you like how some fleeces are.

Scent Prevention

I am not sure what Polarmax is talking about with this one.  My shirt smells pretty bad from my body odor, but I have worn it for a month without washing it.  THAT might be the problem!  Haha!

Overall

I would suggest this to a friend if they were looking for a good base layer.  It can help with those nasty windy/stormy days keeping you warm, and more importantly dry.  Making it possible to be on the slopes longer is what makes this base layer MOST important.

Want to say thanks to Polarmax to sending me this base layer to review!  Thanks everyone!
