Ramp Sports - The Tumbleweed Snowboard

The Tumbleweed presented by RampSports

If you caught my last post about riding at Snowbasin you already know that it is where I tested out Ramp Sports 2012 Snowboard decks.  First post was the review for the Lobstah.  Now, the Tumbleweed!

About Ramp
RAMP is a new Ski and Snowboard Company that is consumer direct and web based. The old rules for buying skis and snowboards are gone. With our direct-to-you way of doing business, customers have greater access to our cutting-edge skis and snowboards, our knowledgeable equipment professionals and irresistible deals. At RAMP we work 100% with the consumer, people who share our love for the best equipment and great times on the mountains.
Product Line
We’re introducing our 2011-2012 product line as a pre-launch this season. With 13 skis and 10 snowboards, we have a full complement of rides for men, women and kids of all sizes and abilities. At RAMP we have the big advantage of starting from scratch. We have the ability to create what riders want and need without working around a big collection of outdated product. We looked at all the emerging trends and designed a complete line of skis and boards at the front edge of what’s coming. Our product lines are tight and focused. We design, create and deliver what skiers and riders want and what they’re about to want.
Unisex and Women’s Product
At RAMP we enhance performance and usability for the size and strength of each rider by developing specific flexes and characteristics for each size ski and snowboard. The old model for creating women-specific skis and snowboards was tweaking men’s equipment with more forward ramp angles and bindings. In reality these features are for skiers with less athletic ability and skill. At RAMP, we’re breaking the mold by creating skis and boards designed to fit the ability and size of the rider. Women who are athletic and strong want the same high-performance equipment men want. That being said, RAMP delivers unmatched women-specific models. A girl needs to be able to express herself!

MY Review of this Gem…

PROS

Light - Like the Lobstah that I had tested, it's weight is surprising.  Suprisingly awesome!

Turnability - I love how easy it is to make a nice long carve on this board.  It was also easy to stop on a dime.  Even though I took this board through some of the worst snow (Spring time) it held up great even when the slope got bumped out.

Great pop - Taking this off of natural features was a lot of fun.  It felt effortless while I was constantly jumping around the mountain.

Flow - I am not sure how to explain this to non-skiers/boarders but the flow of the board is very smooth.  I felt like I could transition from one turn to another to a kicker without losing my rhythm.

Versatile - Felt like I could take it anywhere and it would hold up well.

CONS

Squirrelly - This happens when the tail sort of flutters or can mimic a squirrel tail (lots of tail movement).  I felt like it was squirrelly when bombing lines down the mountain.

Graphic - not a huge fan of the Tumbleweed graphic.

OVERALL

I LOVED this board.  I had a hard time finding some "Cons" when writing this post.  The Tumbleweed was ridden after the Lobstah and I had a big grin because of the improvement (IMO anyway).  When it comes down to it, this board is nothing but FUN.  Fun is what I ultimately look for and this board definitely has it.  Recommended for anyone looking for an all-mountain killer. Did you miss my Lobstah review.  Check it out here!
