Living a Dream

Home.

"Living a Dream"

That phrase gets thrown out a lot by friends and myself (usually sarcastically when life sucks and ordinary) but lately I have definitely been living one.

Living out of a Mazda 3 with nothing but camp gear, climbing gear, and some canned food crammed in said car and the additional space in the Thule Rack.

My dream.

Doesn't sound glamorous to you yet?  How about having only 2 pairs of pants, 2 shorts, 4 shirts, a whole bunch of underwear/socks?  Still nothing?  How about going climbing everyday, having nowhere to be, and being your own boss?

Regardless whether you think what I am doing is completely insane or ridiculously awesome, I am living a dream life.  Being able to rock climb and travel for 5 months straight while fighting the elements, nature, and smelling like absolute hell is what I chose to do.  Have no idea what I am talking about yet?  Check out The Most Epic Trip for details.

We have been on this trip for a little over a month now.  I have been to 3 states I have never been to (Oregon, Washington, Alaska), explored a country I never have seen before (BC/Alberta Canada), and a territory I never even thought about reaching (Yukon Territory).  It has been AMAZING!  I have learned a ton about life, how to be happy, and what makes certain people happy.  Specifically speaking, Haines, AK has residents who literally live out of a home made of a tarp and some rocks.  Yet, they are happy.  After leaving Alaska I have put a lot of thought into what makes me happy.  Snowboarding, climbing, adventure.

My dream, at this point in my life, is to see everything in the world and to do it by living minimally.

I have even thought about saying screw it to everything that society deems "normal living", buying a Toyota Tacoma, pimping out the Tacoma to live in (with insulation, bed, etc), live on the mountain, and go snowboarding everyday in the winter and climb in the summer.  I am not the first to do this.  I am not trying to be different from these people.  I envy them and their decision to do it.

What is your dream in life?  Are you going for it?  If not, why?
