Keen Newport Trail WP Shoe

Keen Men’s Newport Trail WP ... One Rugged Shoe

I have had these shoes for about over a month now and they are pretty good. I like them because of their ruggedness, ability to breathe, comfort, waterproof, and the grip.
These shoes are super rugged. They are made out of a very durable nubuck leather and nylon mesh. They have the keen rubber toe guards to protect the toes from getting smashed and damaged easily, yet still maintain comfort. These shoes have abrasion resistant heals. Also, they have a real nice strong shank in the sole, but not too stiff to affect your step.

These boots breathe really easily. They have KEEN.DRY™ membranes to keep you nice and dry but lets out the perspiration when needed. There is a really nice synthetic lining to help wick away the moisture. The removable metatomical EVA insole has perforations through out to allow maximum ability to breathe. I have worn these boots in pouring rain and they kept my feet nice and dry while still allowing the ability to breathe.

These shoes are very comfortable, which is über important when you are hiking long miles or even just wearing them around work. My feet are little wider then some and I find these boots to be just the right width. This is important because if they are too wide, you will find the boot sliding around a lot and will cause friction which can lead to blisters, which we don’t want.

These boots have that really nice removable metatomical EVA insole that molds to your foot. It has wonderful arch support and I definitely need a lot. It has pull tags on the tongue and heel for convenience to put on and take off. These shoes also have great arch support. Overall they feel great.

The outer sole is made of a really cool carbon rubber. This outer sole has knife cut siping in the sole to retain maximum traction on wet surfaces. It is also has a multi directional lug pattern to also retain traction.

My Gripes-
There is just a few things I have noticed with these boots. After wearing them for a little over a month I have noticed in a few places the stitching is starting to come out which isn’t too much of a worry to me. Also, the glue is starting to show where the shoe is attached to the sole and I am not sure what is happening there either. On one of the shoelaces the outer layer is starting to wear off and you can see the inner layer, but this isn’t too big of a deal because replacement laces can easily be purchased.

Recommendations-
This is a great waterproof, hiking shoe. You will love this shoe because of their ruggedness, ability to breathe, comfort, waterproof, and the grip. These shoes are for someone who is looking for a waterproof yet breathable mid cut boot.

Retails for about $110, they come in all the regular sizes.

  2. Maila,
I personally have never worn Keens but from the review it seems that they scream comfort. I have only found Columbia's to fit my extremely wide foot. If you would like to connect with the reviewer check out the twitter of @tbangerter.
